Twistbox and Bsmart team up to bring mobile content to Brazil

Archive [10/09/2007] – Twistbox Entertainment (www.twistbox.com), a global leader in mobile entertainment, has captured US$19.5 million in investments with an affiliate of VALUEACT Capital and other strategic investors. The capital will be used for the launch of new products, including Web2Mobile Storefronts, Play4Prizes, and Mobile Advertising, according to Ian Aaron, president of Twistbox.

“We will also expand our direct marketing jobs to the consumer to take advantage of the increased traffic and the subscriber base. Our direct contracts with major cellphone operators in more than 40 countries, category-leading content partners, and globally deployed platforms of WAP, MobileTV, and games, have enabled substantial growth in this year”, added the executive.

“We explore investments in many cellphone content service providers. Our performance indicates that Twistbox has created a unique approach as a leader in its category in game and adult content operations”, said Jimmy Price, director of VALUEACT SmallCap Partners. Mr. Price, who will be part of the board of Twistbox also stated that “with a specialized management team and strategic capital, we believe that the company is well positioned for significant growth in an organic way and through acquisitions. We hope to work actively with the management team and with the members of the Board to continue the positive boost in business. ”

“I am happy to announce that Graeme Ferguson has joined the board of Twistbox,” said Aaron. “Previously in the position of programming head of Vodafone Global, Graeme is known in the entertainment and cellphone industries as a leader and pioneer in mobile content. We will continue to diversify and expand our offerings and we are fortunate to have in our council a person with such good relations in the industry and with an experience in the mobile telecommunications market as has our colleague Graeme.”

In Brazil, the company landed in mid-2007 bringing a set of entertainment applications for mobile, mobile TV, games, and exclusive entertainment for adults and hired the executive Alexander Dannias for all its operations in the country. According to Dannias, the objective is to end 2007 with the portfolio of services of Twistbox present in 50% of mobile phones.
